BIST Tip:
We want to go beyond stopping misbehavior to helping kids change their behavior. There are 5 steps of accountability:
1. I did it
2. I’m sorry
3. It is a problem in my life – kids need to get to this level before they can truly change their misbehavior
4. I accept the consequences
I accept help
We cannot overlook or excuse misbehavior, it must be confronted.
New behaviors are practiced so that the student can make better choices
